On March 28th, Rickert Fraser will be presenting his Mathematics Senior Design Project at the Student Research Symposium.

Modelling the human spine
The deformation of the human spine due to some loads and certain forms of scoliosis has been widely studied. In this study we explore the application of a higher order functional boundary problem in the modeling of the human spine as a particular case of a continuous beam model.
This model is given by the fourth order differential equation,
coupled with the periodic boundary conditions, given by

The arguments used to claim the final conclusions, rely on the upper and lower solution method.
