B.S. Physics with Mathematics

OVERVIEW OF THE B.S. PHYSICS WITH MATH PROGRAMME

This is a programme which encompasses a wide range of courses including Mechanics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Oscillations and Waves, Optics, and Electricity and Magnetism, at the lower levels. It also includes, at the upper levels, such courses as Electromagnetic Theory, Quantum Physics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Relativity and Atmospheric Physics among others.

The mathematics components of this programme include, among others, courses in Calculus and Analytical Geometry, Multivariable Calculus and Numerical Methods.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE B.S. PHYSICS WITH MATH PROGRAMME

The entrance requirements are identical to UB's minimum general entrance requirements, as described here.  However, prospective high school students are encouraged to include subjects in their portfolio at high school that are appropriate for direct entry into first-year college-level courses in Science & Technology – namely, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Graphical Communication and Computer Technology. Success in these subjects at BGCSE will obviate the need to make up deficiencies in Pre-Tech or College Prep at UB and ensure timely graduation.
